Happy New Year, Everyone! I wanted to start off this wonderful new year by asking you to set your intentions for 2021. This is going to be really easy because I’m not asking for a year-long goal. I'm not even asking you to commit to a month long goal. In fact, I want you to live moment by moment! This is mindfulness in action. There’s a quote by one of my favorite people, Thich Nhat Hanh, which I strive to live by daily:
“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.”
I love this so much because it’s something you can strive for each day you wake up—there is neither a long-term goal nor a short-term goal; it’s just simply every morning you wake up. So every day you have another 24 hours to try. No matter how crappy the day before was, you have another 24 hours to get a redo! This is my intention every morning I wake up. I'm not in a great mood all the time—not gonna lie—but I do try every day and that's all one can do. And do remember to always be kind to yourself and practice self-compassion.
Another thing; set the intention to live each moment with a sense of compassion, gratitude, and joy. Live joyfully in each moment; find love in each moment. We all have the capacity within us to set that intention of having a beautiful day. I said this was for 2021 but it’s really for each day. Don’t think about the future—think about each day as you wake up. Live in that moment only. There is only ever that one moment. How are you choosing to live your one moment?
